Vulgarity and Wit

10 Mar

“Vulgarity is no substitute for wit.” -Grannie Grantham, “Downton Abbey”

I honestly can’t agree with this more. It speaks for itself. In today’s world, people will make an extremely crass “joke” and then the rest of the room will act like it’s the funniest thing in the world. Nowadays people tend to hide behind vulgarity and use it as a front so make them seem more clever, when really, vulgarity is not wit and is in no way wit. You’re proving your own immaturity, not your cleverness.
