“Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.” -Yoda, “Star Wars”

In its most obvious sense, this statement is not true. Even if you start down the path or sin, it doesn’t have to dominate you forever. Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again on the third day to insure that you can turn away from sin and come to Him. You can always choose to repent. However, that is the obvious application behind this quote. The way I take it is different. If you start down the dark path of sin, even if you repent and turn away from it you will remember what you did forever. The memories of that dark time will never go away. It doesn’t have to go so far as to dominate your destiny, but it can. At least it will be a nagging sensation in the back of your mind forever. So what can be done about this? The obvious. Don’t start down that path. And if you find yourself on it, turn away immediately. You will be stuck with the guilt forever, but if you confess your wrongdoing to the Lord and whomever holds authority over you (parents are an excellent example), you will feel better. You really will. I’m sure I sound like a cliche, but you will be surprised by how much of an impact coming clean and starting fresh will have on you.
