It’s Easter Sunday! (Or, well, was… sorry I couldn’t get this up earlier today…) Easter is a time of eggs, bunnies, spring, rebirth, and…
The resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the end, all those other things can be fun, but they are nothing in comparison with Christ. Our Savior who willingly suffered the most excruciatingly painful death history had devised at that time for your, and my, sin. He was perfect. And He gave Himself up so that we could spend eternity with Him.
I am being raised in the church, and I get this message preached to me every year. I knew the Sunday school version by heart, word for word. And I think that oftentimes knowing these facts so well, knowing John 3:16 by heart, can weaken the meaning. It becomes old news. It becomes a repetitive Bible story. But it’s not. It is the greatest and most perfect display of agape love that there ever was or will be.
This Easter, just consider that for a moment. It’s so easy to let “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whomever believes in Him shall never die but have eternal life” drone on in your head as just noise. But really, the meaning of those words is so incredibly profound that I don’t think any human mind can truly come to comprehend it. God, the literal definition of perfection, loved the very people who had rejected Him so much that He gave up His Son for us.
That is a miracle. And it is one worth remembrance.
Happy Easter, friends. And may your year be blessed. ❤
